Venice & Verona

Ciao l’amici e la famiglia!!!! Oh my gosh this weekend was so amazing! We went to Venice on Saturday for Carnevale and stayed there 2 nights. It is literally the most beautiful city I have ever seen and I think it’s safe to say the most beautiful city in the world. It was so breathtaking and I couldn’t believe it, the sun came out for us on Sunday and I didn’t even wear my coat out—felt like I lost 5 pounds! We left on Saturday early on the bus and it took us 6 hours to get there. When we arrived we got a guided tour of the city—everybody was getting ready for the celebrations that were going to begin the next day. It was sooo crazy; everybody is walking around in costumes and masks! So many tourists were there that it was weird hearing other people speaking English, coming from a place where we are the only ones! The city is so beautiful, in the Piazza San Marco there is a HUGE church that is so gorgeous and a big clock tower and all of these other amazing buildings and it’s right on the water. The Carnevale decorations were so cool too! After dinner we went home and then went out and walked around the city. It was built like a mouse trap to deter invaders so it is SO easy to get lost; you definitely expect it when you get there! But after enough walking around you will eventually find what you are looking for. The other cool thing about the city is that there are no cars or bikes—everybody just walks or takes their gondola, if you want a taxi, you go to the water and take a boat! The water runs through the whole city so there are bridges everywhere it is really amazing. On Sunday the Carnevale celebrations started so we got up early, bought our masks and hit the town! The next time I go I am going to bring a million dollars with me because EVERYTHING in the stores is so pretty the Venetian glass is gorgeous and the things they make out of it are amazing! The masks are crazy too some of them were like 500 euros! The town was so crowded and everybody was in these extravagant costumes throwing confetti everywhere—SO MUCH FUN. We eventually made our way down to the piazza for the opening festivities and it was like kings and queens in all of these cool masks and costumes it was so cool! After that we took a gondola ride of the city—being with 5 girls was fun but we all decided that next time we come back we are bringing a boy with us! It’s too romantic! On Monday morning we drove back and stopped in Verona on the way home where Romeo and Juliet took place. We saw Juliet’s balcony and her statue sooo beautiful! When you’re walking into the balcony you pass her wall which is filled with declarations of love and love letters—so cute! The delicacy of Verona is cavallo—horse meat! I couldn’t bring myself to eat it but my friends ordered it and said it tasted like roast beef! All in all it was the most amazing weekend ever and I can’t wait to go back—I decided Mom has to go see it too she would fall in love! This weekend we are going to Nice and will probably go see Cannes and Montecarlo—can’t wait! Love and miss you all so much, talk to you soon! Ciao belli!
Xoxo
